Introduction and Aims: In a previous paper we reported as in patients undergoing chronic dialysis the cardiovascular evaluation extends the time for placing on the kidney transplantation waitlist.In this study we evaluated the effects of the adoption of a shared protocol for evaluation of cardiovascular disease on the time for waitlisting the potential kidney transplant recipients. Methods: Since 2011 a protocol shared among Cardiologists, Anesthesiologists, Surgeons and Nephrologists of seven Dialysis Centers connected to our Transplant Center has been utilized.We retrospectively collected the data of 342 patients waitlisted between 2007 and 2010 (group A) and 214 waitlisted between 2011 and 2013 (group B).In all these patients we analysed the time from dialysis initiation to placement on the waitlist for deceased donor transplantation.We escluded patients who were preemptively waitlisted. Results: In group A the median time to waitlisting was longer than in group B (14.3, 95% CI:13.2-14.9 vs 11.4,95% CI:10.9-11.5 months,p<0.01).In a multivariate analysis the shared evaluation protocol resulted an indipendent predictor factor of shortening the time from the dialysis initiation to the placement in waitlist(HR 1.4,p<0.04).
