1933 Learning Objectives In a pictorial review we will show a variety of normal patterns of uptake and variants, and we will also show different pathological images which include: Malignancy infection congenital anomalies metastatic disease post surgical radiation changes dental disease focal and diffuse patterns of uptake a variety of other abnormalities Evaluation of Tc-99m MDP uptake in the calvarium on bone scan imaging can be daunting with a variety of common and uncommon patterns of uptake. An understanding of these patterns of uptake is essential to the accurate interpretation of the bone scan study. In a pictorial review, we demonstrate a variety of normal and abnormal patterns of uptake in the calvarium and discuss various issues in arriving at an accurate interpretation. In a pictorial review, will discuss normal development and a variety of pathology in the calvarium on bone scans encountered in daily practice. We expect that an understanding of the various patterns of uptake in the calvarium will help in the interpretation of nuclear bone scan studies to help arrive at a diagnosis. Understanding the various uptake patterns and how to differentiate amongst them is a valuable tool of the nuclear medicine radiologist.
