Michael J. Dunn As you will be aware, most issues of Proteomics Clinical Applications are introduced before the Table of Contents by the section “In this Issue” (ITI). Three of the papers published in the issue are selected on the basis of technical novelty or significance of application and featured through short commentaries. Each article has a catchy title, followed by a short text describing the major findings and accompanied by a graphic relevant to the paper. The first ITI section appeared in Issue 1 of Volume 1 of Proteomics Clinical Applications (January 2007). Over the last six years these ITI articles have been written by our ITI Editor, Terry Landers. I think you will agree that these ITI articles have always been witty, interesting and informative. Those of you who would like an insight into Terry's philosophy regarding these articles should read the Editorial which he wrote for PROTEOMICS in 2006 (Landers, T., The Head behind the Headlines: “In this Issue” Editor Terry Landers. Proteomics 2006, 6, 4435). Unfortunately Terry has now decided that for personal reasons he can no longer sustain the workload required to maintain the ITI section of Proteomics Clinical Applications and that he will stand down as ITI Editor. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Terry for his invaluable input into the success of the ITI section over the last six years. We of course wish to continue the ITI section of the journal, but believe that it would be very difficult to find a single individual prepared to act as ITI Editor. We have therefore decided to adopt an alternative strategy in which authors of papers accepted for publication in Proteomics Clinical Applications will be invited in the acceptance letter to submit a proposal for an ITI article highlighting the important aspects of their paper. These articles should have a catchy title, a short text of around 150 words and an attractive graphic relevant to the paper. Articles for the ITI section in each issue of the journal will be selected from those submitted by the Editors. We do hope that authors of papers accepted for publication in Proteomics Clinical Applications will submit ITI articles to accompany their accepted paper. The ITI section is an excellent way of highlighting selected papers published in that issue. Moreover, the ITI articles are featured online within the “Article Spotlight” section on the journal homepage and may be featured in special marketing activities to promote the journal. Michael J.
