Polymorphism of MTHFR and MTRR in Czech patients with cardiovascular diseases and stroke

Blood from 27 Czech patients with cardiovascular disease and stroke, who also had hyperhomocysteinemia, was analyzed for methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphism, These patients had significantly higher incidence of MTHFR 677 C > T polymorphism compared to controls (p C and methionine synthase reductase (MTRR) 66 A > G polymorphism was not significantly different. The hyuerhomocysteinemia in 70% of these patients was reversible by folate supplementation.
