O sítio da Quinta de Marim (Olhão) na época tardo-romana e o problema da lozalização da "Statio Sacra"

Since the 19th century it has been discussed if the place-name Statio Sacra, mentioned by an anonymous geographer from Ravenna from the 7th century for a place between the municipia of Ossonoba (Faro) and Balsa (near Tavira), can be related with the archaeological site at Quinta de Marim. There, in the 19th century, have been discovered not just a Roman villa site with main and secondary buildings, but also an extensive cemetery. The interpretation of historical sketches, drawn by Estácio da Veiga and Santos Rocha, as well as the analysis of some finds, lead to the conclusion that we must count with a considerable Early Christian basilica in the area of Quinta de Marim. Parallels with the Isola Sacra near Rome make believe that the place-name Statio Sacra relates with an important cemetery, a religious centre or a church, and therefore most probably stands for the site of Quinta de Marim.
