I have been reminded that the 25th Anniversary of the University of Ghana which we are celebrating this year coincides with the 10th Anniversary of the Medical School in exile at Korle Bu. The University gets the silver we, I believe, have tin. This probably reflects the expected gradient between Legon hill and the Korle lagoon; but in matters of education, for which the University stands, and health, to which the Medical School is committed, there is no such gradient, because education and health are inseparable in their contribution to national development - both attempt to improve the quality of the human material available for development and rely on the coordinated input of many disciplines as well as on the efforts of every citizen.
