This paper addresses a systems approach to the application of real-time hierarchical distributed dual minicomputer/multiple microcomputers, for remote control and monitoring of large engineering processes utilising modular and process independent techniques, i.e. transparent global architecture. This technique is inherently systems orientated and has the potential for application in many real-time engineering processes.
