At the Instituto Nacional de Cardiologia Ignacio Chavez, starting from the month of November 2000, a project of evaluation of the quality is carried out that includes standardization of selected infirmary procedures according to the incidence of conflicts, being one of these the process of prevention and treatment of ulcers by pressure. One of the objectives of this project is the improvement in quality of infirmary attention in the prevention and treatment of ulcers by pressure, by means of the validation of this procedure like an indicator of quality and the establishment of a standard in this respect. Material and methods: A prospective, observational, and longitudinal type investigation of cases was carried out, by means of the design and validation of an audit instrument for the quality of the process of prevention and treatment of ulcers by pressure, which was applied in two periods.
