Evidence of New States Decaying into Ξ c * π

Using $13.7{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data recorded by the CLEO detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report evidence of two new charmed baryons: one decaying into ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{0\ensuremath{'}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ with the subsequent decay ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{0\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{0}\ensuremath{\gamma}$, and its isospin partner decaying into ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{+\ensuremath{'}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ followed by ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{+\ensuremath{'}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$. We measure the following mass differences for the two states: $M({\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{0}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+})\ensuremath{-}M({\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{0})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}318.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.9\mathrm{MeV}$ and $M({\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})\ensuremath{-}M({\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c}^{+})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}324.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.0\mathrm{MeV}$. We interpret these new states as the ${J}^{P}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}{\frac{1}{2}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}_{c1}$ particles, the charmed-strange analogs of the ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c1}^{+}(2593)$.
