A 61 year old woman with asymptomatic aortic stenosis underwent elective left and right heart catheterisation for preoperative haemodynamic and angiographic assessment. Prior transthoracic echocardiogram had shown a peak pressure gradient across the aortic valve of 80 mm Hg.
