Abstracts from the 19th Annual Meetingicits in attention, mental control, and some aspects of executive functioning.In addition, performance on measures of learning and memory were poor, though there was no strong evidence of anterograde amnesia.Most striking was her reported 2-year retrograde amnesia for both autobiographical and historical events.On follow-up 4 months later, repeat MRI was again unremarkable.Formal neuropsychological re-evaluation showed notable improvements in attention and all measures of anterograde memory functioning, though executive deficits remained.At that time, she continued to describe a persisting 2-year retrograde amnesia for both autobiographical and historical events.Questioning about prominent historical events in the past 5 years confirmed her report of a 2-year loss.Thus, this is one of very few cases to describe a dissociation between anterograde and retrograde amnesia in a non-herpes encephalitis case.
