This text by Barry J. Anson, PhD, and James A. Donaldson, MD, is the second edition. It is a superb compilation of anatomical material and illustrations with special emphasis on the surgical anatomy and meaning of anatomical findings in the temporal bone and ear. The text has been organized in three parts: the first dealing with the temporal bone; the second, with the developmental anatomy of the ear; and the third, with the adult anatomy of the ear. It is a superbly written and magnificently illustrated text that should be a part of the library of every teaching institution and of every practicing otolaryngologist who performs ear surgery. The text is dedicated to Dr. Theodore H. Bast and represents a continuation of studies that Drs. Bast and Anson began. Dr. Donaldson's particular contribution to this text has made it especially valuable to the practicing specialist.
