Le résumé fourni par la source
When scholars and researchers codify knowledge for use by other specialists, they make explicit links with existing knowledge that has either been previously legitimated or is novel. We examine how the legitimacy and novelty of that linked knowledge affects how newly codified knowledge is used by the academic field represented by the Strategic Management Society (SMS) and how this differs in the broader scientific community of the social sciences. Within the narrower academic field of the SMS, greater impact is observed in articles that build primarily on knowledge previously legitimated within the SMS. Increased article impact is also observed in articles with authors who have attained legitimacy through previously publishing in that community. However, within the broader scientific community of the social sciences, greater impact is observed in articles that incorporate a higher percentage of novel knowledge.
