Circular Diffraction: A New Method for Testing Central Vision and its Use for Diagnosis
Le résumé fourni par la source
A new system for the subjective investigation of isolated macular function using the Test for Foveomacular Colour Perceptive Sensitivity (FMCPS) is described. The patient examines a light source through a circular diffraction grating, and is questioned about the circular colour interference patterns observed. From his encouraged responses, and their relationship to known features of the test, normal, congenital, and acquired disorders of vision can be investigated. The apparatus and method of application of the test are described. The coloured spectral or monochromatic rings seen under normal conditions are presented and alterations from the normal target in various disorders of vision are discussed and some are illustrated.
