The COMPASS collaboration at CERN has investigated pion Compton scattering, ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$, at center-of-mass energy below 3.5 pion masses.
