Measuring B(D+→μ+ν) and the pseudoscalar decay constant fD+

In $60\text{ }{\mathrm{p}\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data taken on the $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ resonance with the CLEO-c detector, we find eight ${D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}$ decay candidates that are mostly signal, containing only one estimated background. Using this statistically compelling sample, we measure a value of $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})=(3.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.6)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, and determine …
